For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:20)

Thomas Jay Oord refers to this biblical passage when he thinks about God’s traces in nature. But in these traces he sees no compelling proof for God in the sense of a natural theology, Oord rather pleads for a theology of nature. Before this theological background and inspired by his own deep experiences of nature, Oord impressively knows how to create photographic analogies for a multitude of divine attributes: Power and strength, tenderness, hiddenness, parental love; but also destruction and death occur.

The lively lecture is suitable to be infected by Oord’s love for nature – for the good of nature: We protect what we love!
